WWII Korean War Era USMC Reversible Camo M-1 Helmet Liner Great Shape Authentic. This is an authentic WWII + Korean War ERA helmet. Has the USMC reversible Camo. The item was stored in an old trunk and appears to be in great shape for it's age. Leather straps are in pretty good shape for how old it is.
The reversible CAMO has a stamp on it and it says. Cover, Helmet, Camouflage Blue Anchor Overall Co. It also has some kind of stamp - I think the USMC stamp and writing that the soldier must of wrote saying "Gung Ho". Helmet liner (with the leather straps - not sure the proper name) has some type of stamp / symbol with the #27 engraved into the very center.
One on of the green straps it has writing but I cannot make it out and did not want to undo the straps to read it. Helmet shell (the part the camo wraps around) I was told is WWII era. The helmet shell has a nice patina/look to it and has the letter "S" stamped on the rim on the inside. There is also a dent on this part that you can see from the outside and inside. Unsure how it happened or if it happened during battle.
This is a beautiful and collectible piece of history and I wish I knew more about the soldier that it belonged to. I pulled it out of an estate in Eastern NC.Good luck and let me know if you have any questions!
