Up for your consideration is this Leather Bomber Jacket from the Korean War. It was my dad's when he was in the Marines. It has a patch on the left front and his name patch on the right front. It has two pockets with button closure flaps. It has a zippered closure that still works.
It is in excellent condition with no cracks or drying of the leather. It has a sheepskin fur collar (or "mouton"). The lining is a silk like material and has absolutely no rips, tears or fraying (see pics 8 & 9). It measures 17" across the back (between the shoulders), 19" across the chest (measured from under the arms) and the arm length is 23 (from shoulder to end of knitted cuff on wrist). According to my dad, this jacket was unused WWII vintage bomber jackets held as surplus and reissued to Marine aviators.
He was issued this one in 1947 while with the VMA-542. This VMA-542 jacket does have a pen holder slot under the flap of the left front pocket. On the inside of the left inside pocket is a green tag with the following block printed in black ink: Examiner No. At 98 1/2 yrs old this Bronze Star Marine is still supporting the Marines.
