Up for sale is a very rare cruise book from CV-45 the USS Valley Forge. Cruise books were a way to document everyday life at sea and during wartime for the sailors and airmen who called the Valley Forge home. Commissioned just after WWII ended, the Valley Forge saw extensive action in the Korean War. This book documents their time at sea from 1951 to 1952, their third Korean cruise. Unusual for books from this period, the introduction contains a tipped-in color photo of the Valley Forge above the note from Captain Pederson.
Otherwise the book contains original photos, cartoons, notes, and scenes of everyday life onboard. A must for any fan of the US Navy in the Korean War, this book is in Fair to Good condition.
The top-right corner has seen a heavy hit which dented the cover and some pages, while the edges and corners have seen some significant wear. See the photos for details.
