Zippers work great with no bindings. Multiple zippers allow for inspection/application of bandages and treatments without fully exposing the casualty to the cold environment. Overall weight is quite heavy for backpacking (approximately 14 pounds), but the large size has ample room for bigger figures.
Dimensions are 7'3 from top of head to the bottom. Just over 3ft wide at the shoulders. My spouse and I could fit in this together with a little room to spare.I could easily see this being comfortable for someone north of 300lbs or so. I assume it to be in the 0F to 30F range. This is based on known conditions for Korean operations.
As with any older military equipment, it does have that old book smell. I have heard this is due to the anti-mildew treatments applied to the cloth from the factory. The rear of the bag has a very light bit of fading. I overexposed the picture a bit to make it more visible. This is where the bag was folded/stored in its carrying bag for many years.
There is also a very small light brown spot over the area of the left breast. It is about the size of a nickel. Looks like it was surplus or never used from the era. Comes with the carrying bag that most other listings do not.
There is a 5 tear in the bag, and the waterproofing tape has disintegrated over the years, leaving the stiff brown residue behind. If you need more pictures, please contact me. Contact me to get a price for both.
