If you're a USAF collector this item is right up your alley. This wing is completely die struck, measures 3 5/16" x 13/16", screw back, not pin back, appears to be bronze!
The obverse of the wing features a 4 blade propeller over a roundel and in between the blades of the prop are the following words (in relief): 337th TCS Komaki (This is the name of the air base at that time). On the reverse of the wing is the following (also in relief): Komaki Airbase 1951 and 630. I believe this wing is a commemorative wing to the crew of the 337th TCS which were know as "The Blue Tail Flies" and the flew C-119's during the Korean War (or in preparation for the War). My research indicates this organization was part of the 315th Air Division. I have been unable to find additional information partly because I have not researched thoroughly.
This is a beautiful wing and one you're not likely to ever come across again. If any among you knows ANYTHING definitively about this wing, please share with us.Don't be afraid to make offers on ANY of my listing which offer that option. You never know until you try!
