Rare vintage USAF N-3 Parka, Korean War era, in generally good condition. This is the very rare first iteration of the famous N-3 style parkas, in olive green nylon, with genuine wolf fur trim and beaver fur lining on hood (all fur in very good condition).

Wool mouton insulation with olive nylon lining in jacket body. All leather components are in good condition. Hardware is original and serviceable, with the exception of the main zipper, which, at some point, had been repaired with a different zipper half that was hand-sewn into the garment. All snaps present and working.

One front closure button is missing. The drawstrings have frayed ends.

There are several areas of light to moderate scratches and/or pulls. US Air Force emblem on lining, below garment tag is barely visible, the emblem on the left arm is very faded, but still visible. Cigarette pocket is in great condition, with original Conmar zipper. There is a lightly stained area near one of the pockets on the front.

There are a few small spots or pinholes. Very minor fading discoloration throughout. In generally good condition for its age. No foul odors or heavy soiling, but a dry cleaning is recommended.

The quality of stitching is unusually good for contracted garment manufacturevery even stitching, and nice symmetry of seams/attachments. The clothing label is very worn near the top portion, but reads (see pic). Chest (armpit to armpit): 27 in. Length (from seam at base of attached hood to bottom of jacket): 33 in.

Note: Raglan style sleeves only allow approximate measurements due to lack of traditional shoulder/sleeve seam location. This sizing is consistent with a heavy overcoat designed to go over bulky winter aircrew clothing/uniform.

This a nice, wearable, authentic, collectible item for those who appreciate the original N-3 style jacket, and the amount of labor that went into making one of these.
