RARE Korean War 2ND BATTALION 38TH INFANTRY REGIMENT COMBAT SPEARHEAD AWARD Pin

This is a very rare Korean War American combat award insignia. It looks somewhat like the Combat Infantry Badge, with the same shape, size and blue enamel, but has a human skull with a spear piercing an eye hole and the legend "2 BN 38 INF" below.

About 3 1/8 wide, very good quality, rich enamel work and almost certainly Korean-made. This insignia was given to the soldiers of the 2nd Battalion of the 38th Infantry who had actually fought in combat.
