Up for sale is this EXTREMELY RARE, AND GENUINE Type B-15B Intermediate Flying jacket. Nothing beats an original, and this is a rare example from the Korean War that marked the birth of the first nylon version of the B-15 series; the Type B-15B Intermediate Flying Jacket.
This Intermediate jacket was developed after the end of World War II, coinciding with the adoption of L-2 for light zones, N-2, and N-3 for heavy zones, all of which also utilized Olive Green nylon. From this point on, all USAF flight jackets were made with nylon. This specific example was made by The Gardner Corporation under contract no. AF33(038)12016 in the fiscal year 1950.
The condition of this jacket is amazing, considering it is over 73 years old. All parts are original to the jacket. The mouton collar and the leather oxygen mask tab are immaculate.Blackened Prentice zippers are intact and working perfectly. Original knits are solid and without holes which is extremely rare. The left shoulder proudly displays the color-printed U. AIR FORCE logo, which remains in great shape, retaining its original colors. Needless to say, these jackets are quite rare due to the short time of supply.
This would be a great addition to any military display or even a great wearer for years. Let me know if you have any questions.
