KOREAN WAR US M1 CARBINE BAYONET CAMILLUS WithM8A1 SCABBARD CLEAN ESTATE ITEM

KOREAN WAR US M1 CARBINE BAYONET. RARE CAMILLUS US ARMY 1953 CONTRACT. This Korean War M1 Carbine Bayonet belonged to a friend of mine who recently passed away. This was one of the blades in his collection and it was on display with an M1 Carbine. This particular bayonet was manufactured by Camillus and is so marked on the underside of the guard (see photos).

I believe it is a seldom seen example of the 1953 US Army contract. It is super clean overall and and has most of its original thin parkerized finish remaining (see photos). Showing minimal use/wear the blade appears to have issue sharpening only and still has a relatively sharp edge now (see photos).

There are a few tiny nicks to the upper ridge that are hard to see and hard to photo and I mention only to be exact in the description (see close-up photos) Pommel & crossguard have most all the original finish remaining and are very clean (see photos). Leather washer grip is clean, tight and remains solid with no cracks or losses (see photos). Spring loaded release button is present to the pommel top and works perfectly.

Crossguard is tight and doesn't wobble. The 1953 US Army Contract bayonets had a distinctive pommel top with an "X" below the peening (see photos). They lack the ordnance marking to the crossguard and have a "M" with shorter center point to the "M" on the underside of the crossguard (see photos).

This bayonet meets all the criteria for the seldom seen 1953 U. Scabbard is clean/complete/intact, solid overall with original paint (see photos). Top fitting is clean, without problems and marked U.

Hook for attachment to a web belt remains present & functioning (see photos). A number has been lightly stenciled to the cloth upper and lower body reverse (could easily be removed if desired - see photos). This Korean War M1 Carbine bayonet is super clean/solid overall and is guaranteed to be an original period piece as described.

It is a very clean example with a near mint blade. The overall presentation is excellent and it would make a super display piece for the advanced Camillus bayonet collector.
