This is a nice WWII/Korean War U. Marine Corps M1 steel helmet with camouflage cover that is in complete and excellent condition.
The shell is WWII with rear seam, swivel bales and without dents. The chinstraps are of OD green colored webbing with black finished steel adjustment buckles.
Except for the slightest bit on the long strap, there is no fraying to the chinstraps at the point of attachment to the bales. A frog skin pattern camouflaged cover is in place over the shell that is with printed Marine Corps eagle, globe and anchor stenciled at the front on both sides and with slits for additional camouflaged foliage.
It is marked on one of the fingers, COVER, HELMET, CAMOUFLAGE, BLUE ANCHOR OVERALL CO. TAP 1424, 29 APRIL 1953'.
The liner has green webbing suspension and is complete with chinstrap. It has what appears to be a later leather sweatband. The is no nap strap present at the rear. The interior dome is with both a CAPAC and a Westinghouse logo.Apparently, this was an original WWII used liner that the CAPAC firm refitted for use during the Korean War. Painted in yellow on the interior right side of the liner is, RA33473916 over the name A. The liner retains the leather chinstrap which is fitted over the front visor of the shell. All the interior components of this liner are clean and without damage. The cover is with some pinhead size snags on the body and wear at the front seam from actual service in the field.
