Here we have a fine WWII/Korean War U. Marine Corps M1 steel helmet that is in complete and excellent condition.
The shell is WWII with front seam, fixed bales and without dents. The exterior of the shell is finished with a rough cork aggregate that is somewhat battle worn. The chinstraps are OD green colored webbing with dark finished bronze adjustment buckles. There is some light fraying to the chinstraps at the point of attachment on the bales. A frog skin pattern camouflaged cover is in place over the shell that is WITHOUT the printed Marine Corps eagle, globe and anchor stencil at the front. The brown side of the cover is with the stenciled EGA. The cover is with slits for additional camouflaged foliage. It is marked on one of the fingers, COVER, HELMET, CAMOUFLAGE, BLUE ANCHOR OVERALL CO. The liner has light khaki webbing and is complete with chinstrap, nap strap, and leather sweatband. One of the dome straps is lightly inked with the original owners name, ROACH.
The interior dome is with the letter W in a circle logo for the Westinghouse Corporation manufacturing firm. The liner is painted OD green and is in very good condition. It retains the original leather chinstrap which is fitted over the front visor of the shell. A fine example of the distinctive U.
