Korean War Soldier Flag WAR ART HAND PAINTED ON SILK VINTAGE US FLAG

This is an ultra rare piece of US history. This is a personally made flag by a Navy Corpsman during the Korean War.

This is a 1-Sided Flag. This flag states KOREA 50-51 in a scroll on top of the Red Cross with FUBAR in a scroll below the Red Cross. A hypodermic needle and M-1 Garand cross in front of the Red Cross. The staff of Hermes is between the Red Cross and needle & M-1 Garand. Symbol similar to the Field Medic Cross.

USMC with eagle over Western Hemisphere with diagonal Anchor. Symbol of UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS. USN with Anchor Symbol of UNITED STATES NAVY. This flag must have been constructed by a US Navy Corpsman that was embedded in a US Marine Corps unit during the Korean War. The United States Marine Corps do not have field medics.

Medics that are in the field with Marines are called Corpsman and are part of the United States Navy. Navy Corpsmen are referred to as DOC by their fellow Marines. This is out of respect. Honestly, its hard to tell without speculating, who made this flag. It could have been a Marine commenting on the casualties and fighting of the early part of the war. What can be said is that this flag is that it was definitely made during the worst part of the Korean War. The Flag is dated 50-51 and the Korean War ended in 1953.

FUBAR is the true reference of this flag. It means F%^ED UP BEYOND REPAIR.

The hypodermic needle and rifle means that there was tons of fighting and casualties. I contacted Jeff R Bridgman of American Antiques. He is a world renowned Vexillologist and he really liked the piece. I asked him if he had ever seen a flag design like this before, and if this would be a rarity? This is Mr Bridgmans exact reply. I have never seen this design.

I sort-of expect it was a one-off. You see very little Korean War material. The Rarity of this piece from a 1-5 were 1 is common and 5 is one of a kind, this falls in the RARITY of 5.

This is truly the rarest flag that I have ever owned. Please know that this flag should truly be conserved and framed.

This is a real museum piece. If I had the means, I would truly donate this piece to the Smithsonian Museum. If you have any questions feel free to message me. Reasonable offers may be considered.
