Interesting Korean War A-2 to a Pilot who carried its use over from WWII and updated insignia as he grew in rank. He flew F51 fighter-bombers in support of ground troops in Korea, and was twice shot down by enemy small arms fire. And was wounded on one of those occasions. The jacket features a 67th Fighter Squadron, 18th Fighter Group painted patch. A leather 77th Fighter Squadron patch, painted Captain's bars, and a leather name tag with wings.
The jacket is from WWII and was updated by Capt. Brewer as he grew in rank and unit. There is ghosting of other name tags under this one.
The 77th patch has previously been sewn to another jacket as evidenced by sew marks under the glued on black leather ring on. The top of this patch. The jacket is in good overall condition for it's age. Included is some online research about him. As with many A-2's, the waist was replaced. He had quite a few unusual experiences flying in the Korean War! The item "Korean War Fighter Pilot's A-2 Leather Jacket Shot Down Twice 67th FS 77th FS" is in sale since Monday, July 17, 2017.
