KOREAN WAR ERA US NAVY PILOT'S HELMET. It came in with the Naval Pilot's wings listed in my other auctions. It shows use/age overall and has it's original liner that remains intact and is well marked (see photos). The helmet's exterior has the original gold paint that shows some wear losses overall but remains mostly intact (see photos). Most of the US Navy decal remains to the front with losses as shown (see photos).A small area to the reverse has rubbed away (see photos). There is a strap & bracket to the right side and and the hook-up snaps are all in place.
The interior is clean with the webbing and leather pads in place (see photos). The neck leather area has been inked with the pilot's name & serial numbers as well as his nickname "Jack" (see photos). The interior also has another orange Gentex label near the lower left edge (see photos). This Korean War era US Navy Pilot's helmet is a nice clean representative piece. It shows it's age, some average wear and would clean up if desired.A wipe down with a oil rag would be good start. It is guaranteed to be an original period piece as described and would make an excellent display item. Excellent research project with the pilot's name and serial number.
