KOREAN WAR COMBAT INFANTRY BADGE withAPPLIED STAR BY GEMSCO PINBACK

This is a fine Korean War U. Army Combat Infantry Badge with star that is in excellent condition. It is constructed of silver metal and exhibits exceptional detail to the musket, wreath, and star, with perfect light blue enamel paint behind the musket. The reverse of the badge is darkly age tone and is with the swing pin and roller locking catch in place.

It is marked,'GEMSCO - N. On two lines at the base of the wreath. What is interesting about this badge is that it appears to have been a standard, first award pin back badge at one time. When the veteran received his second award, he had the star applied to his original badge instead of getting one with an integrally cast star.

He valued his original award that much. To appreciate the significance of this badge, you would have had to have fought in just one conflict. The recipient of this badge fought in two.
