Salt Lake City, Utah, a C-124 aircraft commander Air Marshal Sanders was visiting the 374th Troop Carrier Wing Korean airlift base at the time. Combat Cargo C124S can carry up to 200 passengers, as many a 136 litter patients or 25 tons cargo each.
It is known that Kosman was a Captain serving in the 374th TCW and the 63rd TCG during the Korean War. He achieved the rank of of Major post Korean War.
