James Patrick McCarthy - Collection of Korean War Photographs - Great Find. James Patrick McCarthy - Collection of Korean War Photographs. Great Genealogy and Military Find. Collection of Korean War Photographs.
Here we have a very nice collection of wartime photographs that once belonged to. This is a genuine collection of original photographic prints. Many prints are in good condition and a few are faded but still valuable and interesting. Included in this collection are over 100 photographs; somewhere between 140 and 150 in all.Pictures were taken primarily in Korea, Germany and France as far as we can tell. McCarthy traveled when he was in the military and he took a lot of different pictures along the way. The pictures show the world during a different era.
They are all very interesting. We are not sure which of the pictures are Mr.
But, we think he may be the good looking gentleman that is Front and Center of the picture stacks. And, he may also be in the last COLOR photograph that we found in the bottom of the pile. The COLOR picture is many years after the service period and it may be a reunion if Mr.McCarthy is one of the gentlemen featured. Anyway, it is the only COLOR print in the collection. McCarthy was born June 25, 1927. This gentleman was a soldier in the U. But, I scooped them up, along with some other items from Mr.
McCarthy as soon as I spotted them. If this collection is of interest to you, then please search our listings. We may still have the other Mr. These are all original photographs. This is a one-of-a-kind collection out of an old smelly photo album.
So, there are creases, stains, writing and that old album vintage smell. Approximately 60 or more are primarily pictures of Soldiers in one location or another; either in the field, at camp, on base or on tour somewhere near but away from base and the battlefield. There are a number of group pictures in this part of the collection. There are also about another 20 or more pictures of Soldiers that range from small to very small. Some have borders and some have been trimmed out of larger pictures. We don't know the reason for trimming, but it could have included reasons of security. About 20 or more are strictly scenes along the way such as Rice Patties, Rhine River, a castle in Munich, the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triumph, On Song Valley, Pou Sang Valley, Kap Yong Valley and Kum Wa Valley. About 15 are strictly in the field military scenes such as trucking over the Bavarian Alps, a Captains Field Tent, the loading and take off of a C-124, Tanks at the 38'th and the Coast of Inchon. About 10 are Soldiers with Civilians. About 5 or so are just Civilians in Korea, Italy and Paris. A small handful of about 5 or more include some closer to home scenes in Mexico and these are mostly Civilian in nature.Q: This is priced way to low! From what I see, you have, for the most part, really good images.
A: Yes, we think so too. We are going to leave it like this hoping for a faster sale.
But, if that doesn't happen, we are going to hike the price to investment value. This is just an introductory price. It goes up eventually and probably some time next year. What an incredible find this is!
It is very rare to find the name of the prior owner, so easily! You and the next owners have really got luck on your side with these McCarthy listings!
I was checking the others out too and left messages for you! Glad to hear from you again! This IS an incredible set of prints. Though they are vintage, I can hardly believe the condition.
The vintage value alone is extraordinary. And, like I said in the listings, I just don't understand how things like this wind up in places like flea markets!
Q: Cool listing; I like the others too. If McCarthy is the front and center (love that phrase-guess you were in the military too), then I think the man on the far right is him too! Thanks for complimenting the listing.
You may be right on that opinion! Q: Just stopped by on this collection. Many people take their photographs to get video made and then the throw the historic prints away! Rescuing this collection was the right thing to do! But, I would be charging a lot more than this!I hate to think that is what might have happened! Anyway, this is a great message. Q: Great collection of prints. Excellent for reprint and resale. Value is much more than you are asking.
