CAPAC KOREAN WAR HELMET LINER with CAPTAINS RANK INSIGNIA, ESTATE FRESH, UNTOUCHED

This offering is for an estate fresh (literally RIGHT out of the attic), Korean War vintage US Army officer's helmet liner w/ the rank insignia of a captain painted to the front, just below the insignia grommet. Like so many liners of this period, it would appear that the exterior paint was given a coat of varnish, as this liner was most likely worn most of the time w/o the steel shell. The liner has a very nice "HBT" harness, in the typical late / post WWII shade of "OD #7", to include the adjustable "nape" strap. There is NO sweatband, which is just how it surfaced, however the original leather chinstrap w/ khaki green slip-buckle is still intact and secured via its triangular "bales" to the chinstrap posts.

The helmet retains the vast majority of its textured paint, probably due in no small part, to the period clear-coat application. The liner is well marked to the interior dome with both the encircled "W" (for "Westinghouse"), & cross-sectioned "CAPAC" marking, which is flanked by I believe, the date code(s) "51 / 52" and the number "32". In my humble opinion, militaria from this period has been long overlooked by collectors, however I believe that this is starting to change as this fascinating period in history is beginning to get the attention it has always deserved. This is a very nice, Korean War vintage US officer's helmet liner that displays very, very well, so don't miss your opportunity to add this one to your collection!
