#69. USN Korean War Era K-1, Hunter-Killer, Submarine Patch
There were only three (3) Hunter killer Submarines beginning about 1951 (also known as the Attack Submarines) in the USN: K-1 later named the Barracuda; K-2 later named the Bass; and K-3 later named Bonita. Before being renamed as Barracuda, Bass and Bonita (and changing their functions/missions) these three subs had their own distinctive patches each with their own designation, i. These three subs each had installed a large BQR-4 Sonar array on their bow (which, coincidentally, slowed down the subs).

This was later changed (1959) and the subs were reclassified into "Fast Attack" subs as opposed to their older designation of Attack (Hunter-Killer) Submarines. These three patches are exceedingly rare. Please consider viewing my other listings (there are only about 40) and adding me to your favorites list as I will be listing many more interesting and unusual items throughout the summer.
