Jump on board for a first person point of view of the events that unfolded during the Korean War and Battle/Landing of Inchon (Incheon). These 20 photographs were taken by a US Navy Sailor onboard the LST 914 (present-day USS Mahoning County). This unknown sailor took photographs of this historic battle that was a turning point in the war that helped pushed back invading North Korean forces. These photographs were taken in real time as the events unfolded.
In these photos you will find snapshots ranging from US Marines on LCVPs (Higgins Boats) as they invaded Inchon on September 15, 1950 to photos of thousands of captive North Korean POWs. Other snapshots depict damaged LST's, landscape photos of a burning mainland Incheon, rubble of destroyed landmarks, and the brave men that served and fought during the Korean War who were on board the LST 914. The Navy Sailor that took these photographs also wrote in great detail on the back of each photo what was happening in each snapshot photo. The photos provided above show how the photograph looks and what is written on the reverse. Photo dimensions range from: 2.5 x 3 inches (Smallest) 3.5 x 5 inches(Biggest).
