1950 KOREAN WAR PAIR TO ROYAL LEICESTERS Mounted

The Korea Medal (1st issue) has officially impressed naming in small captitals as follows to. Medals mounted on a pin bar. In October 1951 1st Battalion Royal Leicestershire Regiment embarked at Hong Kong for Korea. On 5 November the Battalion took part in the second Battle of Maryang-San, afterwards known as the Gunpowder Plot Battle. It is reported the Leicesters fought magnificently and continued to show high fighting qualities during the remainder of the year in which the Battalion campaigned in Korea.

There the Battalion won the last two Battle Honours of The Royal Leicestershire Regiment. More research on Mr Williams needed. The medals are in good VF condition although the Korea clasp has a spot of vergigris.
