The US Marines provided over 51,000 M1 rifles to Korea from 1950 up until 1963 under the then Military Assistance Program. This example was produced by a very scarce maker Wilde Drop Forge & Tool (WT). Smaller contractors like WT, simply did not have the set up to produce the bayonets on the same scale as the two main high production toolmakers. (WT only produced around 4% of knives and bayonets made). Between 1943 and 1953 M1 bayonets were produced by five of the six original contractors.

This WW2 US M1 bayonets blade has been shortened to 6 3/8 and thinned it to resemble the M4 bayonet blade. Korea used the designation "M5" for this bayonet, even though it was not actually a U. CONDITION : This item is Vintage WWII, used and in very good condition for its age and use in warfare. Right side has a crack. Blade has excellent gray parkerized finish.

The edge is not sharp and has a ding on the top of the spine. Remaining metal finish is original gray parkerized showing some normal wear. Fitted in an US M8A1 sheath. Plastic body has nice original green finish and no damage.
