KOREAN WAR ERA USN G-1 JACKET. Overall the jacket is clean/durable.
This Korean War Era USN G-1 leather flight jacket is clean overall, remains durable/wearable. The dark chocolate brown colored leather exterior is made of quality leather (see photos). There are NO rips, tears, losses or excessively worn areas anywhere to the leather exterior excepting some tiny wear holes to the elbow areas (see photos). There are also some very small blue paint spots to the front left flap pocket that are hard to see and would probably clean off if desired (see photos). Small stitch holes indicate the jacket had a period made/sewn nametag to the upper left chest at some time but it was removed (see photos). No other patches or nametags have ever been sewn anywhere to the jacket. Waistband and cuffs are original and solid overall with the usual small snags & losses (see photos).
Zipper run is the original small tooth Conmar that operates properly but is stiff from disuse (see photos). Base of the zipper run on the male side has a 1.5 inch separation, The zipper can still be zipped but a repair would be needed for consistent wearing (see photos). Inner lapel has No USN perforations which is correct for this early 1950's jacket.
Fur-like collar remains solid overall with no losses or dry rot (see photos). All buttons for the collar & front flap pockets are present & secure (see photos).
Interior has its original brown colored lining that remains intact and without issues excepting a restitch to one end of the small leather hanging strap at the collar (see photos). The original manufacturers label is present below the collar and shows the maker as Cagleco Sportswear (see photos). The size is shown as 38 but the jacket fits the mannequin more as a size 36 (see photos).Measurements for this jacket are: shoulder seam to shoulder seam across the back 18 inches, shoulder seam to the end of the cuff material 23.75 inches, base seam of collar to bottom of waist - 24.75 inches. Armpit to armpit across the front - 23 inches (expanded). This early J-7823 jacket is a solid Korean War Era USN G-1. It would be an excellent wearable jacket if you fit the size and do a small repair to the zipper run. This jacket fits more like a 36.
